Sugar Land is Dreaming

I know you're curious, but someone has to keep you from trying it

And I'm just that one, who's also a sucker.

You've seen the ads, you've seen the promotional pint glasses at your favorite bar, and you've seen the six packs of it in your local package store's fridge: Budweiser American Ale. And if you're like me, a beer snob, you're curious because you like trying any beer that's dark, but.. It's Budweiser. Can this really be any good? You don't want to try it in public, though, lest your friends see you drinking a Bud.

The verdict? Save your money.

I mean, it's OK. It tastes better than a regular American yellow lager, but pretty much any beer can accomplish that. And I suppose if you're at a bar that only has really shitty beer and this American Ale is on draft, then it's OK to have a pint. There's no bad after taste, either -- but the actual taste is just too Bud-ey. The American Ale won't compete with a Bass, Sam Adams, or Sierra Nevada -- nevermind whatever your local brewers offer that's actually fresh.

Don't let your curiosity get the best of you. Instead, reach for an arrogant bastard. That shit fucks you up.

I wouldn't go near anything made by Anheuser-Busch - but props to you for trying.

Aye. One night at my usual bar, the bartender gave me a Bud instead of PBR by accident. (PBR has been my choice lately since money hasn't been finding its way into my wallet -- it's certainly not my first, second, third, or even 20th choice if I have more money). I was surprised to find that PBR actually has more flavor than Bud.
